PNP wants Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental to be put under Comelec control
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has recommended that Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental to be placed under the control of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), according to its chief on Monday.
Police General Oscar Albayalde, however, said the Comelec has not signed the resolution yet regarding the PNP's recommendation.
"Nirecommend namin 'yung Moises Padilla to be under Comelec control although ang sabi nila it's approved in principle pero wala pang resolution na pinipirmahan ang ating Comelec," Albayalde said at a press conference in Taguig City.
Asked for the reason on the recommendation, Albayalde cited "intense political rivalry" in the area.
At present, Albayalde said there are more than 900 election hot spots in the Philippines.
These election hot spots are categorized in three different levels: yellow category or election areas of concern, orange category or election areas of immediate concern and red category or election areas of grave concern.
According to Albayalde, 543 towns and cities are under the red category, 243 are placed under the orange category and 155 others are under yellow category. — RSJ, GMA News
