Sara Duterte introduces second ‘next Speaker’ in as many days
TAGBILARAN—Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has endorsed two candidates for Speaker in as many days.
A day after introducing former Leyte Representative Martin Romualdez in his hometown Tacloban City as the next leader of the House of Representatives, the daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte introduced another politician as the "next Speaker."
It was Marinduque Representative Lord Allan Velasco's turn to be so introduced at the Hugpong ng Pagbabago's campaign rally in this city.
Both Duterte and Sara have called Velasco as the next Speaker at Velasco’s birthday party in November, but it was Romualdez who was first introduced by Sara as the next Speaker on the campaign stage.
Velasco, who often serves as program emcee during Hugpong campaign stops, skipped the Tacloban campaign stop Romualdez hosted.
Following Sara's apparent endorsement of Romualdez, Velasco told reporters that there was no clear front runner in the race for the speakership because Sara would support anybody who would back the Duterte administration. —NB, GMA News
