3 million more Sinovac doses arrive in Philippines
The Philippines on Wednesday received an additional three million doses of the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine procured through the national government’s loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The vaccine supply arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) past 11 a.m. and was received by National Task Force Against COVID-19 Assistant Secretary Wilben Mayor and Health Undersecretary Ma. Carolina Vidal-Taiño.
According to NTF data, the Philippines received a total of 114,245,400 doses of procured and donated COVID-19 vaccines as of November 8.
Some 30 million Filipinos are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
The government will hold a three-day national vaccination drive from November 29 to December 1, with the target of administering 10 to 15 million doses.
The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Tuesday the lowest number of daily cases since February 23 with only 1,409 new infections, bringing the country’s total caseload to 2,806,694.
The number of deaths stood at 44,567. — VBL, GMA News
