Cusi bares PDP-Laban talks with Bongbong but says Marcos-Bong Go tandem “impossible”

PDP-Laban president and Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi on Friday disclosed that they had a meeting with presidential aspirant and former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. but “nothing materialized” on possible 2022 election tandem.

“Nagkausap po kami [We have met] once and we discussed how things are going in their camp, how things are going in our camp,” Cusi said in an interview on CNN Philippines.

“We discussed the running of [Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa] and his running mate, napag-usapan din po namin 'yan [we also talked about that] but nothing materialized about the tandem,” he added.

Cusi said the Bongbong and Senator Bong Go tandem is also “impossible” for now as the PDP-Laban is already “firmed up” with the Bato-Go tandem for 2022.

“I think that will not happen because we are firmed up already sa pagtakbo ng (on the candidacy of the) tandem po ni (of) Bato and Bong Go,” he said.

“Sa ngayon, imposible (For now, it is impossible). We are no longer in touch with them,” he added.

Last October 6, Marcos filed his certificate of candidacy for president.

In a media interview after his filing, Marcos disclosed that they were supposed to adopt President Rodrigo Duterte as his vice president for the 2022 elections.

But Duterte dropped his plan to run for vice president and PDP-Laban fielded Go as their candidate for the post.

Asked if he is willing to take Go as their vice presidential candidate, Marcos said:  "Paano iyon, Bongbong Bong? Bong to the third power? Baka puwede rin, we'll see."

Go, for his part, said he could “work with anyone,” adding that he will respect whoever the Filipino people will vote for.—AOL, GMA News
