NTF: Over 17% of target COVID-19 jab recipients in Philippines fully vaccinated
A total of 12,282,006 or 17.19% of the country’s eligible target population have been fully vaccinated as of Thursday, the National Task Force Against COVID-19 said on Friday.
In a statement, the NTF said a total of 26,677,269 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the country including over 14 million first shot doses.
Likewise, the NTF said that the country has so far received a total of 41,515,350 doses of COVID-19 vaccines from several manufacturers.
NTF chief implementer and vaccine czar Secretary Carlito G. Galvez Jr. said local governments under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) committed to have a more aggressive inoculation program.
“This milestone is the result of the collective efforts of our LGUs, our private sector partners, and our healthcare workers. They always find ways to ensure that they will deliver on their promises,” he said.
Nearly 240,000 jabs were administered daily in the National Capital Region (NCR), which is close to the target of 250,000 per day, Galvez added.
“We are confident that we will breach that figure very soon and sustain that momentum in the succeeding weeks, despite the multitasks our mayors are performing simultaneously today,” he said.
The highest number of jabs done in a single day was recorded at 710,482 on August 5, according to the NTF, adding that country's daily average jab rate is at 519,828. —LBG, GMA News
