National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill to be held online on March 11

The first quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) will be held on Thursday, March 11, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and the Office of Civil Defense announced.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NSED will again be held online, as was the case last year.

The NSED, which aims to enhance disaster preparedness, is held every quarter.

This quarter's drill itself will be held at 2 p.m. online with the ceremonial pressing of the button. The public is encouraged to do the duck, cover and hold position in their homes and offices.

Among the activities also lined up are the Bida Ang Handa Challenge, Bida Ang Handa Quiz Bee and earthquake preparedness webinar. —KG, GMA News
