MRT, LRT, PNR to resume ops Friday, November 13
Normal train operations of Metro Manila’s railways will resume on Friday, November 13, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced Thursday after Typhoon Ulysses made its way through the capital region.
The DOTr said the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) 3, Light Rail Transit (LRT) 1 and 2, and the Philippine National Railways (PNR) passed full system checkS conducted earlier in the day.
The operational systems of the main railways—including tracks, overhead catenary system power, signaling, communications, building, facilities, and rolling stocks—were “found to be functional and in good condition” by authorities.
“After completing and passing all systems checks conducted earlier today, operations of the MRT-3, LRT-1, LRT-2 and PNR shall resume tomorrow, 13 November 2020,” the DOTr said.
Operations of MRT and LRT were earlier suspended due to the onslaught of Ulysses.
The typhoon was forecast to exit the country on Friday morning. —Julia Mari Orneda/JST, GMA News
