1,407 new cases push Philippines’ COVID-19 tally to 402,820
The Philippines’ coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caseload increased to 402,820 on Thursday after the Department of Health (DOH) announced 1,407 new infections as 17 laboratories failed to submit reports on time.
Davao City tallied the highest number of newly reported cases at 214, followed by Eastern Samar with 75, Rizal with 75, Cavite with 64, and Quezon with 54.
Total recoveries also rose to 362,417 after 211 more patients recovered from the respiratory disease while the death toll also climbed to 7,721 with 11 new fatalities.
“Moreover, eight cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths,” the DOH added.
The remaining 32,682 are active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine, 83.6 percent of which are mild, 9.4 percent are asymptomatic, 2.4 percent are severe, and 4.4 percent are in critical condition.
Meanwhile, as Typhoon Ulysses lashed the country, over 200 COVID-19 patients and staff in flood-prone healthcare facilities in Luzon were transferred to hotels. —LDF, GMA News
