Cascolan's PNP strategy to focus on illegal drugs, internal cleansing, COVID-19 new normal
Newly appointed Philippine National Police chief Police General Pancratius Cascolan's "3-point strategy" within the PNP will focus on illegal drugs, internal cleansing and the new normal amid the COVID-19 pandemic, PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Ysmael Yu said.
“Our Chief PNP is determined to hit crucial 3-pointer with his Tres Puntos or 3-point strategy with the help of our people in going after High Value Targets on illegal drugs; internal cleansing of our organizations for us to be highly capable and effective in ensuring safety and security of our citizenry and to get the full support of the public to win against this pandemic,” Yu, also the new PNP Public Information Office chief, said in a recent interview with Church-run Radio Veritas.
Yu said Cascolan will hit the ground running and will be felt by both the people and the PNP personnel.
He added that the new PNP chief will continue the police force's development through the Peace and Order Agenda for Transformation and Upholding of the Rule of Law (P.A.T.R.O.L. Plan 2030).
The said plan is the PNP's strategy for attaining a "highly capable, effective and credible police service working in partnership with a responsive community towards the attainment of a safer place to live, work and do business."
“This crucial 3-point shots of our Chief PNP can only be attained thru a united PNP that is responsible, respected and disciplined and guided by our PNP Core Values of Maka-Diyos, Maka-Tao, Makabayan at Makakalikasan!” Yu said.
Cascolan formally took over the leadership of the 205,000-strong PNP on September 2 after Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa retired.
The new PNP chief took his oath before President Rodrigo Duterte on September 7.
Last week, Cascolan said the PNP will continue its adjudication process on policemen allegedly involved in illegal drugs.
He also said they would look into the alleged red-tagging of members of the Makabayan Bloc by the police.
Cascolan also revealed plans to establish focused units which will ensure that peace and order is maintained in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). —KG, GMA News
