May 10 deadline for social amelioration distribution will no longer be extended —DILG
The May 10 deadline for local government units to distribute the cash subsidy under the government’s Social Amelioration Program is final and will no longer be extended, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said on Saturday.
“‘Yan po ang pahayag ni Secretary [Eduardo] Año na hanggang bukas na lang ang deadline na binigay ng DILG,” Interior Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said in an interview on Dobol B sa News TV.
Año moved the deadline of the distribution of cash aid from May 7 to May 10, considering the challenges being encountered by areas with a large number of population, including the National Capital Region, Cavite, Rizal, Laguna, Bulacan, and Cebu and Davao City.
Nevertheless, the Interior chief warned that LGUs who would still fail to meet the May 10 deadline will receive show cause orders from the agency.
85.49% distribution
Malaya said the cash aid distribution nationwide has reached 85.49%.
The DILG official cited the Caraga Region for the 100% payout rate, followed by the Bicol Region with 99.79% and Cordillera Administrative Region with 93.92%.
For Metro Manila, the payout rate stood at 75.62% as of 9 p.m., Friday, according to the DILG official.
In Metro Manila, Malaya lauded the cities of Caloocan, Paranaque, Mandaluyong, Marikina, and Pasig with the highest payout rates of 95.15%, 91.28%, 88.48%, 86.64%, and 85.56%, respectively. —Ted Cordero/KG, GMA News
