‘Zoom bombing’ victim details hacking experience
A victim of "Zoom bombing"' on Tuesday shared his story on Manol Sugadol's report on Stand for Truth.
ZOOM Cloud Meetings, an application for online video conferencing, is being used by a number of people working from home under the enhanced community quarantine.
However, reports have recently circulated online of the application being hacked wherein individuals can enter on-going video calls.
Brian Gonzales, president of the National Society of Parliamentarians, detailed how their public teleforum had been interrupted.
According to Gonzales, when he posted the video on Facebook, an individual who was playing music had entered their conference.
"[N]ung pinost ko na siya sa twitter, mga five seconds lang ang agwat, bigla na pumasok like mag susulat na doon sa powerpoint nung speaker namin," he said.
"Tapos may mga nag-susulat ng obscene images, like 'yung ari ng lalaki, tas nag-iingay sila and they were saying obscene words," he added.
When they were unable to control the individuals, they stopped the meeting.
According to a cyber-security expert, however, the problem with the application is its lack of end-to-end privacy.
