Marcos family sets foot in Malacañang for Imee's oath-taking
The Marcos family set foot in Malacañang on Tuesday, more than three decades after the late President Ferdinand Marcos was ousted from power via the People Power uprising.
In a photo shared by Senator-elect Imee Marcos, the family was seen gathered and smiling in front of a portrait of the late President Marcos.
The family — from former First Lady Imelda down to her grandchildren — was in Malacañang on Tuesday to witness Imee's oath-taking as incoming senator before President Rodrigo Duterte.
"Senator-elect Imee Marcos visited Malacanang Palace today with her family to take her oath of office as Senator before President Duterte," the photo's caption read.
"Led by Former First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos, the family gathered in front of the portrait of Former President Ferdinand E. Marcos."
President Marcos' decades-old reign was marred by allegations of corruption and human rights violation.
Aside from Imelda and Imee, those in the photo were former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and his son Sandro; Irene Marcos-Araneta; and Imee's sons Borgy and Ferdinand Richard Manotoc.
The photo has over 41,000 reactions and 3,100 shares as of Wednesday afternoon. —KBK, GMA News
