AFP official names schools where Reds allegedly recruit students for ouster plot

A military official on Wednesday identified several schools in Metro Manila where the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) is allegedly recruiting students for the supposed Red October ouster plot.

According to Brigadier General Antonio Parlade Jr., Armed Forces deputy chief of staff for operations, the schools include:

  •     UP Diliman
  •     UP Manila
  •     Polytechnic University of the Philippines
  •     Ateneo De Manila University
  •     De La Salle University
  •     University of Santo Tomas
  •     Adamson University
  •     Far Eastern University
  •     University of the East (Recto and Caloocan campuses)
  •     Emilio Aguinaldo College
  •     Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology
  •     San Beda University
  •     Lyceum of the Philippines University
  •     University of Makati
  •     Caloocan City College
  •     University of Manila
  •     Philippine Normal University

Earlier, no less than military chief General Carlito Galvez Jr. disclosed that communist groups are recruiting students for the Red October ouster plot, which aims to remove President Rodrigo Duterte from power.

At the time, Galvez did not mention the names of the schools.

But Ivy Taroma, UP Student Regent, cried foul over the AFP’s maneuvers to tag UP Diliman and other universities as supposed conspirators.

"Instead of responding to the students’ clamor for genuine educational reform and a nationalist, scientific, and mass-oriented educational system, the Duterte administration responds to those calls with unrestrained state fascism. He has redtagged institutions, youth groups, and individuals and has exposed them to grave peril," Taroma was quoted as saying in a statement released by STAND UP Diliman on Wednesday.

"Duterte has made the Iskolar ng Bayan his enemy. But he has chosen the wrong group to mess with. The Iskolar ng Bayan will not cower in fear but instead will fight with resolve Duterte’s tyranny and dictatorship. We will militantly assert our democratic rights alongside the basic sectors of society and struggle for genuine social change!" Taroma said.

As of posting time, GMA News Online is trying to reach the schools' admin for their comment on the matter.

'Proletarian dictatorship'

Meanwhile, Parlade warned that once the CPP succeeds in overthrowing the Duterte administration, the rebel group will establish a "proletarian dictatorship."

"What the students don't know is that if the CPP wins in this campaign, they will implement what's in the CPP Constitution and Programs Version 2016, published May 2018 Art. 3 Sec. 7... to establish a 'proletarian dictatorship,'" Parlade said.

"Let's remember the communist Khmer Rouge when dictator Polpot purged millions of all professionals and intellectuals in Kampuchea now Cambodia and installed its workers and peasants in its communist regime," he added.

Parlade emphasized that communist leader Jose Maria Sison would be the "reincarnation" of Polpot.

"So please inform our parents, be watchful of what their schools are doing to their children now," Parlade said.

Parlade said communist rebels have been recruiting students from almost all schools in Metro Manila, adding that some school officials may be clueless with the move of the CPP.

"Possibly hindi alam ng school officials na CPP nagkukumpas, except schools na notorious sa school activism. May ongoing film showing sila about dark years of Martial Law, sa mga class to incite students to rebel against the government," Parlade said. — RSJ, GMA News
