Trillanes ready to face decision of Makati court in coup case
Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Wednesday expressed readiness to face whatever the decision of the Makati regional trial court Branch 148 would be on his coup d’etat case.
This was after the Department of Justice filed its reply, the last pleading required by the Makati court before the motion for the senator’s arrest could be considered submitted for resolution.
Trillanes is facing a non-bailable offense of coup d’etat before the court.
He said he has decided to submit to the judicial processes even if the decision will not be in his favor.
So kahit na the form of democracy is there but in essence and in substance wala na,” he added.
He said he has prepared for the worse especially under the administration of Duterte.
“Under Duterte, I have prepared for the worse, that’s the kind of man I am. I accept God’s will for me.
He said he believe that that his cause is worth fight for.
Despite a ruling from another court reviving his other rebellion case, the senator remains hopeful.
“There is still a glimmer of hope, may milagro. There is always hope that that will be the case,” he said.
He said his family has always been prepared about his situation.
“In-explain ko na in the end bansa din nila ito, this is also their country. I didn’t put up a fight when I should have, mas mabigat ‘yun,” he said.
Win or lose, at least I can rest knowing that I did my best,” he added.
Earlier this month, the President signed Proclamation 572 revoking the amnesty given by former President Benigno Aquino III to Trillanes.
The DOJ then filed a motion before two Makati courts asking for the issuance of arrest warrant and hold departure order against the former Navy officer.
Makati RTC Branch 150 Judge Elmo Alameda granted the motion Tuesday and ordered Trillanes to post bail amounting to P200,000 for his temporary freedom.
In light of the developments at the Makati Court Branch 150, Trillanes said his camp will be filing a motion for reconsideration before the trial court and a petition before the Supreme Court, where his camp has a pending plea assailing Duterte's voiding of his amnesty.
Napag uusapan na magpafile kami ng isang petition sa Korte Suprema at the same time magpa-file ng motion for consideration dito sa naging desisyon kahapon,” he said. — MDM, GMA News
