Three injured as ‘Fun Drop Tower’ malfunctions

Three persons were reportedly injured when the "Fun Drop Tower" at the "Circle of Fun" amusement park allegedly malfunctioned.

According to Susan Enriquez's report on "24 Oras", the mishap happened past 6 p.m. Tuesday night.

Video showed the ride plunging dangerously from several stories on its second drop.

Those injured were rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center.

A victim, Jea, needed two X-rays after sustaining a cervical spasm while the two others got bruises.

"Kabagsak noon, hindi ako nakahinga. Parang naghabol ako ng hininga tapos doon po ako sumigaw. Parang nataranta na po ako," Jea said.

Police are investigating whether it was a human error that caused the machine to malfunction.

"Hindi po niya na-reach 'yung pinakamataas eh. Bigla pong bumagsak. Hindi po natin alam kung human error or nag-malfunction 'yung ano. 'Yon pa ang iimbestigahan natin," QCPD Station 10 commander Superintendent Christian dela Cruz said.

Park owner Bobby Leung insisted the park followed all safety procedures. He also discounted the possibility of human error as he claimed the ride was automated.

"Two to three hours, we inspect the rides. After we close, everybody's tired, they all go home. Pero sa morning there's a thorough inspection again," he said.

Leung said park management would shoulder the victim's medical expenses. —NB, GMA News
