PNP remains on full alert for Undas
The Philippine National Police remains on full alert as the country is set to commemorate All Saints' and All Souls' Days when the people troop to cemeteries to remember their departed loved ones.
"Sa ating mga kapulisan, we expect na wala tayong break, wala tayong leave dahil tayong lahat ay magdu-duty sa lahat ng sementeryo at sa subdivision na iiwan ng mga tao na pupunta sa sementeryo. Full alert status tayong lahat," PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa said in a press conference late Monday afternoon.
PNP spokesperson Senior Superintendent Dionardo Carlos clarified that the police force has been on full alert since President Rodrigo Duterte declared a state of lawlessness violence following the deadly night market bombing in Davao City in September.
"Naka-full alert pa po kami, hindi po kami nagbaba ng alert status," he said in a message to reporters Tuesday.
He said during the security coverage for the Undas 2016 that all regional and provincial offices are directed to enhance police presence through foot/mobile patrols.
Carlos said regional and provincial police offices should deploy road safety marshals, establish assistance hubs in coordination with other agencies/groups/NGOs, conduct security patrols at residential areas, secure vital installations and coordinate with other agencies, volunteer groups and force multipliers.
Dela Rosa had said that he wanted zero crimes during Undas.
"We have to commemorate Undas successfully with hopefully zero incident kaya lahat ng pulis ay duty tayong lahat," he said.
He also advised the public to secure their properties as well.
"Doon naman sa mga mamamayan natin, we are advising you to please secure your premises, yung households ninyo bago kayo pumunta sa sementeryo dahil yung mga akyat bahay diyan magpipiyesta sa bahay ninyo kung hindi ninyo na-lock properly yung mga pamamahay ninyo," Dela Rosa said.
He also asked the public to observe Undas in solemnity.
"Basta hindi magulo, hindi mag-iinuman, hindi mag-attract ng pansin ng ibang tao dahil magagalit yung ibang tao dahil they want to be solemn with the namayapa na member ng pamilya," he added. —ALG, GMA News
