Duterte’s inaugural speech to bring him closer to Filipinos –speechwriter
President-elect Rodrigo Duterte's speech during his inauguration on Thursday will be just five minutes long and may bring him closer to the public, his speechwriter said Wednesday.
"Ang palagay ko ang mga tao, they will like it. Doon mo makikita ang uri ng pagkatao ni mayor," said Davao City administrator Jesus Melchor Quitain in a report by Jam Sisante on GMA News TV’s Quick Response Team.
"Kapag narinig nila ang speech na ito, magbabago ang kanilang pagtingin kay Duterte," he added.
Presidential Communications Secretary-designate Martin Andanar, in a message to GMA News Online, said the speech will also stir the Filipinos' nationalism.
"Speech will captivate your patriotic spirit," he said.
Before Duterte's inaugural address, Supreme Court Associate Justice Bienvenido Reyes will administer his oath at 11:45 a.m. at the Rizal Hall in Malacañang Palace. —Trisha Macas/KBK, GMA News
