LRT-2 resumes normal operations
Regular operations of the Light Rail Transit (LRT)-Line 2 were restored before noon Tuesday after a bolt of lightning struck a power cable and halted trips for about two hours earlier in the day. Jinky Jorgio, LRT public relations consultant, told radio station dzBB that two to three meters of catenary wire were damaged at about 8:45 a.m. amid heavy rains. She told GMANews.TV that the LRT Authority (LRTA) the lost some P210,000 because of the two-hour glitch. An estimated 15,765 passengers were inconvenienced during the incident, according to LRTA data. This was the fourth time that the 11-station LRT-Line 2 system was hit by lightning, dzBB reported.
