Pedestrian killed after being run over by truck in Tondo

An 18-year-old boy died after he was run over by a truck in Barangay 94 in Tondo, Manila.

According to a report on "24 Oras" on Monday, Alberto Abel was walking on the street with his headphones on when a 14-wheeler truck ran over him.

The victim was rushed to hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Barangay officials said Abel was using his cellphone while walking and did not notice the truck behind him.

The victim's mother also called on local officials to improve safety features in the area to avoid further incidents.

The truck driver is in police custody and faces charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/DVM, GMA News
