Juvenile offender rescued during buy bust operation in Marikina —police


A child in conflict with the law (CICL) was rescued on Saturday in Marikina City, the police said Sunday.

In a statement, the National Capital Region Police Office said Police Major General Debold Sinas commended the Marikina City Police Station for the successful conduct of a buy bust operation that also led to the rescue of a child in conflict with the law.

According the NCRPO statement, the rescue operation took place at JP Rizal St., corner Buenmar St., Barangay Nangka in Marikina.

Acting on an information about drug peddling activities in the area, police elements launched the operation.

The CICL was identified as @Bara (CICL), 15, an out of school youth, and a resident of Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City.

A police investigation showed that personnel from Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of Marikina, in coordination with elements from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)  conducted buy-bust operations wherein a police officer acted as a poseur buyer.

Upon closing the drug transaction, operatives immediately effected the rescue, the police statement said. The operation also resulted in the confiscation of the following pieces of evidence:

a) Twenty pieces of medium heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance  suspected as dangerous drugs

b) A piece medium-sized brown paper bag

c) A piece P1,000 bill with serial no.  and Six (6) pieces P1,000 peso bill (Boodle Money) used as buy bust money (recovered)

Seized items with estimated weight of  more or less 100 grams with estimated value of P680, 000 shall be turned over to Eastern Police District Crime Laboratory for chemical analysis.

The rescued CICL is now with the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.  —LBG, GMA News
