Student LSI loses phone to thief outside Manila North Harbor
At least three cellphones have been stolen from locally stranded individuals staying outside Manila North Harbor Port waiting for the resumption of trips back to their provinces, Unang Balita reported Tuesday.
GMA’s Jonathan Andal reported that one of the cellphones stolen was supposed to be used by 13-year old Grace in her online class.
“Hindi na po ako makaka-attend ng online class kasi nawala ‘yung cellphone na ginagamit ko pang-online class,” Grace said.
3 cellphones na raw ang nabalitaan nilang ninakaw sa isang bahagi ng Manila North Port kung nasaan ang mga LSI ayon kay Juvylyn na isa sa nawalan ng cellphone

She said she put the cellphone on her chest to listen to music and rest but when they woke up, the mobile phone was already gone.
“Natutulog po kami dito tapos nilagay ko sa dibdib ko kasi nagpapamusic kami tapos paggising ko nu'ng umaga wala na 'yung cellphone,” she said.
Grace and her mother Juvylyn were bound to Butuan but were not able to board a ship due to the implementation of modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) to arrest the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the country.
They are currently staying in a container van outside Manila North Harbor Port together with other locally stranded individuals. They have no idea who stole the phone as according to the security officers, no other people entered the area.
“Kami nawalan na kami ng cellphone, kaninang umaga nawalan din ‘yung kasama namin doon, dalawang cellphone din po. Ang sabi naman ng guard magdamag silang nagbabantay, walang taong pumasok dito. Kami kami lang,” said Juvylyn.
The mother said she does not know if they will ever be able to buy a replacement phone as they do not have money for it and she is suffering from a broken bone due to an accident while working as a household helper in Laguna.
Juvylyn said the doctor told her that she would be needing P100,000 to treat the broken bone. Her employers then gave her P10,000 and told her to go back to the province.
“Wala na po kaming pera ipambibili, ubos na po talaga ang dala kong pera, dalawa kami ng anak ko,” she said.
Juvylyn was hoping they would be able to travel to Butuan if ever MECQ is lifted on August 19.—AOL, GMA News
