Valenzuela opens dorm for health workers residing in locked down Obando, Bulacan

The Valenzuela City government on Monday has opened a dormitory for health workers residing in Obando amid the enhanced community quarantine due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

On Twitter, Mayor Rex Gatchalian, said the city government opened the temporary housing facility to help the health workers from Obando who are being barred from going home into their own towns due to the lockdown.

The said air-conditioned facility is complete with beds and toiletries. It also has a charging station, a grab-and-go counter and a mobile shower.

Gatchalian said meals will be served round-the-clock to the medical workers.

“Dito sa Valenzuela City, ang mensahe namin sa mga frontline heroes from Obando, welcome po kayo. Hindi niyo na po kailangan mangamba na hindi kayo papauwiin sa inyo,” Gatchalian said.

Meanwhile, the city government also rented a hotel for Valenzuela frontliners who will be working in its central isolation facilities.

“We will house them here before they go home,” Gatchalian said.

Valenzuela has so far reported 31 cases of COVID-19, including one fatality, one recovery, 183 persons under investigation and 200 persons under monitoring.

As of Monday, the Philippines has recorded a total of 3,660 COVID-19 infections with 163 deaths and 73 recoveries. —Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
