Taiwanese with COVID-19 visited Makati —Mayor Binay

A Taiwanese national who tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) visited Makati City, Mayor Abby Binay confirmed on Monday.

Binay said the Makati Health Department (MHD) has located the people whom the patient may have come in contact with.

“I instructed the MHD to immediately locate the hotel staff, the national’s associates, and all others whom he may have come in contact with during his stay in the city,” she said in a statement.

The mayor added that while the traced contacts did not manifest any COVID-19 symptoms, they have been instructed to undergo a home quarantine.

The mayor said the Taiwanese national was previously confined at a private hospital but has already been transferred to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine.

The management of the private hospital has compiled and submitted to the Epidemiological Bureau a list of the personnel who came in contact with the patient.

Binay said the local government has COVID-19 protocols and established isolation areas in place.

“I would like to assure parents and students that since February, the city government has been disinfecting public schools and public areas in Makati,” she added.

“To further assure the public, I am asking all buildings and facilities, whether public or private, to disinfect their premises regularly.” —LDF, GMA News
