Makati orders restaurant closure over gas leak explosion

The local government of Makati City on Friday ordered the closure of a Chinese restaurant that exploded due to an alleged gas leak.

Makati City Police chief Police Colonel Rogelio Simon explained that the City of Makati had issued the closure order against the Judian Chuan Ba Restaurant, which was located along Yakal Street, after four Chinese nationals were injured during the Thursday night explosion.

"Notice is hereby given that this establishment is closed for violation of the regulatory provisions of existing city ordinances, laws and regulations," the order read.

"The management is, therefore, ordered to cease and desist from operation," it added.

Authorities also discovered that the restaurant had no business permit, and had operated without a sprinkler system with no available fire extinguishers. — Anna Felicia Bajo/DVM, GMA News
