MRT ops back to normal after Guadalupe station incident


Hours after an incident at its Guadalupe station disrupted operations, the Metro Rail Transit resumed normal operations shortly before noon Wednesday.
 
In a radio interview, MRT general manager Al Vitangcol III said that as of 11:30 a.m., the MRT-3 operations along its full line had resumed.
 
"Back to normal operations na tayo, bumalik na [ang] buong linya," Vitangcol said in an interview on dzBB radio.
 
The Department of Transportation and Communications posted a similar update on its Twitter account.
 
 
Earlier, the DOTC said it was waiting for the Philippine National Police to give the go-signal to resume normal operations for the MRT.
 
It said MRT operations were disrupted after a man reportedly jumped in front of a train at the Guadalupe station.
 
Since early Wednesday morning, operations at the MRT were disrupted due to the incident.
 
The DOTC said its initial findings showed an unidentified man "allegedly jumped in front of a train at Guadalupe Stn that resulted to death." Vitangcol said the incident occurred at about 8:15 a.m., when the unidentified man jumped in front of a northbound train.
 
"Meron tayong unidentified male person na lumundag sa harap ng padaring na tren sa Guadalupe northbound," he said.

Following the incident, the MRT's online CCTV stream was inaccessible as of 10:40 a.m.
 
Visitors were greeted with an error message that indicated a big number of viewers was trying to access the site.
 
"It seems that we are experiencing high-volume of users, Please wait a moment and try again later," it said.
