DOLE: P33 wage hike in Zamboanga Peninsula private sector approved
The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) has affirmed the order to increase the daily minimum wage for private sector workers in the Zamboanga Peninsula.
The NWPC unanimously affirmed Wage Order No. RBIX-23 issued by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) IX on Friday, November 22, 2024 the daily wage increase by 33 pesos or from P381 to P414 for workers in the non-agriculture sector including service and retail establishments with more than 10 employees.
For the agriculture sector including service and retail businesses with only less than 10 workers the daily wage increase is from P368 to P401.
The Wage Order No. RBIX-23 will take effect on December 12.
“The wage order is expected to directly benefit 95,990 minimum wage earners in the region,” the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said in a statement.
“About 129,607 full-time wage and salary workers earning above the minimum wage may also indirectly benefit as a result of upward adjustments at the enterprise level arising from the correction of wage distortion,” the agency added.
Further, DOLE said that regional boards in the Cordillera Administrative Region and Mimaropa are currently in the final stages of minimum wage determination process.
Meanwhile, the regional board in Bicol Region halted the wage determination process in the region due to the impact of Super Typhoon Kristine last October. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
