4 Filipinos make it in the 2019 Forbes ‘30 Under 30 Asia’ list
Four individuals from the Philippines made it in this year's Forbes "30 Under 30 Asia" list which features 300 disruptors, innovators, and entrepreneurs across the region.
The list includes 30 honorees in 10 categories such as Arts; Consumer Technology; Enterprise Technology; Entertainment & Sports; Finance & Venture Capital; and Healthcare & Science. Also included are Industry, Manufacturing & Energy; Media, Marketing & Advertising; Retail & E-commerce; and Social Entrepreneurs
For this year, there were four individuals included in the list:
Earl Patrick Forlales and Zahra Halabisaz Zanjani
The pair are co-founders of Cubo, a company that designs and constructs bamboo houses in a span of four hours. The duo last year won prize money from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors for their designs.
The pair hopes to tackle accommodation issues in the Philippines with low-cost bamboo housing units, with the original design inspired by the bamboo huts built by Forlales' grandparents
Georgianna Carlos
Carlos cofounded Fetch! Naturals, a premium pet care brand that uses natural ingredients for its products, where she currently serves as CEO.
Established in 2016, Fetch! Naturals currently has two retail locations in Manila and Los Angeles, with products found in over 30 locations across the Philippines.
Kenn Costales
Costales founded Monolith Growth Ventures, a performance marketing firm with offices in Singapore and Manila in 2016.
With Costales as CEO, Monolith currently serves global brands such as Fitness First, The Boston Consulting Group, Sonos, and Klipsch.
For this year, over 2,000 submissions were received online and from in-house research by Forbes' journalists across the region.
According to Forbes, the criteria for honorees include their demonstration of leadership, how they embody the entrepreneurial spirit that is synonymous with Forbes, and their potential of success in their industry.
Innovation, disruption, and the size and growth of venture were also said to be taken into consideration.
“The Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list this year highlights daring
entrepreneurs who are building businesses mostly to solve problems in their industries," said Rana Wehbe, Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia editor.
"Forming 70 percent of the 2019 list, startup founders are using technologies like AI, Big Data and Blockchain to facilitate processes such as matching patients with potentially life-saving medical trials and providing enterprise solutions for SMEs who form the vast majority of businesses in the APAC region," added Wehbe.
China had the highest number of honorees this year with 61, followed by India with 59, Japan with 30, South Korea with 28, and Singapore with 23. This is also the first time that honorees from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, and Laos appeared on the list. —LDF, GMA News
