PCHC orders uniform format for dates on checks
Individuals and corporations should follow a uniform format on the dates indicated on checks starting next month, according to the Philippine Clearing House Corporation (PCHC).
Based on Memorandum Circular 3445 issued by the PCHC on June 7, the PCHC reminded the public that the uniform rule of reading and interpreting dates on issued checks will take effect on July 1, 2018.
Under the rules, dates written entirely in numeric format will be read by clearing banks following the month-day-year sequence.
For example, checks dated November 3, 2018, when written in an entirely numerical format, should be 11/03/2018.
Meanwhile, checks with dates written in alphanumeric form will continue to be acceptable for clearing:
Fully written: November 03, 2018 or 03 November 2018
Abbreviated month: Nov. 3, 2018 or 03 Nov. 2018
Shortened: 03 Nov. 18
