BOC's Cagayan de Oro district exceeds collection target by 26%

The Bureau of Customs' Cagayan de Oro collection district exceeded its target amount for January by 26 percent, the bureau said in a report.   The bureau collected P559.2 million in the district last month, compared to its target of P443.1 million, said district collector Lourdes Mangaoang. The amount is also an 80-percent improvement from the P248.7 million the district collected in January 2012, she said. With the higher-than-expected total, Mangaoang added, the district is confident of meeting their 2013 target of P5.65 billion. The Mindanao Container Terminal-Subport (MCT-SP) was by far the best revenue earner among the district port's three sub-ports, bringing in P494.7 million in duties and taxes. The Iligan sub-port in Lanao del Norte brought in P17.48 million, while the Ozamis sub-port in Misamis Oriental contributed P1.2 million. The district's main port in Cagayan de Oro produced P45.77 million. This is the second time Mangaoang has been appointed Customs Regional Director of Region X. In between the postings, she headed the BOC's X-Ray Inspection Project. The BOC collected P24.454 billion in January, just shy of its target for the month of P26 billion. — BM, GMA News
