Tesla to put supercharging station at Shangri-La Plaza along EDSA

Tesla to put supercharging station in Mandaluyong mall along EDSA

Tesla will be installing its second V4 supercharging station in the country in EDSA Shangri-La Plaza, the auto firm announced Wednesday during the product launch for its Tesla New Model Y.

The charging station is currently under construction at the mall’s Basement 1 Carpark (Zone F), East Wing.

“It’s a work in progress at this point. [The team is] working very hard. They’d like to make it as good as possible,” said Tesla Philippines regional director Isabelle Fan.

The station will have four superchargers that will charge P19 per kilowatt. Fully charging a Tesla Model 3 will cost around P1,140.

“It's the lowest in the market. Charging is a new one. It's a value service,” Fan said.

“It's not only for the sake of the business. This is a value service to us. So we have intention, without seeing how many cars on the road in the island country, we do it in every major state over a few weeks,” she added.

Shang Properties executive vice president for retail and commercial Joy Polloso said that the supercharging station will be the first along EDSA.

“We all know that the market for [electronic vehicles in] the Philippines has already been well accepted. Everybody's looking forward to, of course, going into the sustainability way of living… So, I'm sure it's already about time. It's long overdue,” she added.

“We've been talking about sustainability, how individuals can sort of observe reducing carbon monoxide consumption. Being in a very congested area like Metro Manila, I'm sure a lot of people would really like to contribute and practice more sustainability by using EV Cars,” Polloso said.

Meanwhile, Mandaluyong District 1 Councilor Charisse Marie Abalos-Vargas said that the city welcomed the emergence of sustainable technology to aid the environment.

“We welcome private companies such as Tesla. Sana talaga [I really hope] we can have more brands like them to be able to push for sustainable technology… We feel the effect of CO2 emissions in our city. Everyone is affected. Once your health is affected, once the air is affected, walang mayaman, walang mahirap diyan. Walang matanda, walang bata. Lahat talaga affected, [There is no rich or poor. There is no old or young. We are all affected],”she said.

“We want a city that is not just economically rich, but we want a city that is also healthy. We want a city that thrives health-wise,” she added.

The first Tesla supercharging station is located at Uptown Mall in Bonifacio Global City.
