Auto shop says it's not importing, storing POGO bosses' luxury cars
The auto shop where 44 luxury cars were discovered by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in Taguig denied any role in the importation and storage of the vehicles.
In a ''24 Oras'' report on Friday, Auto Vault Speed Shop clarified that they only provided detailing and maintenance services.
“Auto Vault is not engaged in the importation or sale of motor vehicles…. Auto Vault is engaged in providing quality car service detailing and maintenance,” said the shop’s legal counsel, Julius Otsuka.
CIIS-MICP Station Chief Alvin Enciso said that the shop needed to provide documents to prove that the 44 cars were only there for maintenance.
“Para di ho sila maging liable or hindi sila makasuhan, kailangan maipakita po nila any document po na nagpapatunay na mga sasakyang nandito ay either pinagawa, pinadetail o pinaparada,” Enciso said.
(They have to show any document proving that these cars are here for either repairs, detailing, or parking so that they will not be held liable or face charges.)
The BOC claimed that the shop was among the establishments holding luxury cars for POGO bosses that have fled the country instead of reselling them at a cheap price, according to an intelligence report.
Enciso disclosed that the team found two units of Ferrari 488, two units of Mercedes Benz C Class, and one unit each of the following: McLaren 720S, Rolls Royce Cullinan, Maserati Levante, Lamborghini Huracan, BMW M3, Dodge RAM, Ferrari 488, Ford Everest, Ford Mustang, GMC Yukon Denali, Honda Civic SIR, Honda S2000, BMW M2, Land Rover, Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography, Lexus LBX, Lexus LX570, BMW I4, Mazda Miata, Audi A1, Mercedes Benz AMG SLK, Mercedes Benz G Wagon Brabus, Mercedes Benz G63, Mercedes Benz GLE450, Mitsubishi Lancer, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Porsche 997 Carrera, Porsche 993 Turbo, Porsche 911 Turbo, Porsche Cayenne, Porsche Cayman, Porsche GT3, Porsche GT3 RS, Porsche GT3 Touring, Porsche Turbo, Toyota Seqouia, Toyota Corolla, Cross, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, Toyota Land Cruiser VX.R.
The BOC said that they would give the owner of the cars 15 days to provide proof of payment of correct duties and taxes.
