Ayala’s ACMobility acquires electric vehicle charging network Evro
ACMobility, the mobility provider of the Ayala Group, has acquired electric vehicle (EV) charging network Evro, which seeks to consolidate the country’s operators to make them more accessible and convenient to local EV users.
Evro, developed by Globe Telecom Inc.’s 917 Ventures, is an e-mobility service provider (eMSP) that offers real-time information on charging station locations, availability, and functionality, with a mobile application that allows EV users to locate, reserve, and manage charging stations.
“We are thrilled to bring Evro into the ACMobility ecosystem,” ACMobility chief executive officer Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala said in an emailed statement released by Globe. The company did not release the transaction cost.
Zobel de Ayala, who is also a board director at Globe, was appointed a member and private sector representative of the National Capital Region in the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Inter-Agency Investment Promotion Coordination Committee.
“It will address range anxiety concerns and empower EV owners to have full control of their charging experience,” he said.
Evro currently features 33 live charging locations managed and operated by AC Mobility in its mobile application, located in areas such as One Bonifacio Street, Greenbelt 3, Alabang Town Center, TriNoMa, Nuvali Solenad 1, Baguio Ayala Technohub, Ayala Center Cebu, Abreeza Mall Davao, and Anvaya Golf and Sports Club in Morong, Bataan.
It is currently in talks to onboard more charge-point operators onto the platform, with plans to expand its network in the coming months.
Evro will be added to the portfolio of ACMobility, which is the official distributor of Kia, Volkswagen, and BYD passenger cars in the Philippines. It also operates the largest dealer networks of Honda and Isuzu.
“Since launching earlier this year, we’ve made significant headway in advancing sustainable transport through our tech and partners. Entrusting Evro to ACMobility ensures it will continue to evolve and contribute to the advancement of sustainable transport,” 917Ventures managing director Vince Yamat said.
