Marcos certifies as urgent P6.352-trillion national budget for 2025
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has certified as urgent the passage of House Bill No. 10800 or the 2025 General Appropriation Act (GAA), which provides for the proposed P6.352 trillion national budget for next year.
In a message addressed to House Speaker Martin Romualdez, the Chief Executive “certified the necessity of immediate enactment of House Bill 10800 [...] to ensure the uninterrupted of critical government functions, guarantee the allocation of fiscal resources for vital initiatives, enable the government to adeptly respond to emerging challenges.”
The message was read during the House's plenary session after it continued to deliberate the budget of several agencies on Tuesday.
Romualdez earlier said that the House was looking to approve on third and final reading the proposed 2025 GAA on Wednesday, September 25.
The proposed 2024 national budget is 9.5% higher compared to this year's P5.268 trillion. —NB/BAP, GMA Integrated News
