Toyota hands over luxury SUV to Carlos Yulo

Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMP) on Monday handed over a brand new Land Cruiser Prado to Filipino athlete Carlos Yulo, adding to the rewards given to the country’s first two-time Olympic Games champion.

The luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV) was awarded to Yulo in Toyota’s manufacturing plant in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, in a ceremony led by the company’s president Masando Hashimoto and vice chairman David Go. The reward was announced last month.

“Thank you, Caloy, for being an inspiration. Like the Prado, you are legendary in every way. We hope the Prado will Move Your World and help you achieve even more,” Hashimoto said.

Yulo is the first Filipino to bag two gold medals in the Olympics, achieving the feat in Paris earlier this month after besting his competitors in the vault, and in the men’s floor exercise.

The Prado boasts of four-cylinder, in-line, 16-valve DOHC, chain drive, turbo engine. It also has an engine displacement of 2393cc with a maximum output (ps/rpm) 281 / 6000. Maximum torque, meanwhile, is at (Nm/Rpm)430 / 1700-3600.

To recall, Yulo was also earlier awarded a Chery Tiggo 7 Pro SUV from Chery Auto Philippines.

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) earlier said prizes and awards given to Yulo — including gifts and donations from private entities — are exempt from income tax.

Among Yulo’s previously announced rewards are the P20-million cash from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., a P32-million property from Megaworld Corp., 150,000 Mabuhay Miles yearly for life from Philippine Airlines, and P10-million cash from the MVP Group. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
