Ayala Land launches electric vehicle charging hubs

Electric vehicle owners have easier access to chargers with the opening of more than 20 charging stations on properties owned and managed by the Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) in seven cities across Luzon.

The objective, the ALI said in a statement, is "to reinforce its commitment towards sustainable and responsible property development and achieving Net Zero by 2050."

Ayala Land Inc. has made charging electric vehicles more accessible with the construction of charging stations in their malls, estates, offices, and malls across cities in Luzon.

“The rollout of these EV charging stations is one important step towards our goal of carbon neutrality. With this, we hope to create an ecosystem which encourages a sustainable lifestyle within the communities we create,” ALI President and CEO Bobby Dy said during the launch of the charging hubs at the new Ayala Triangle Gardens Tower Two in Makati City.

There are chargers installed in office buildings such as the Baguio Technohub, Tower 2 Ayala Triangle Gardens, and Solaris One.

The other stations are located in Ayala Land Estates: One Ayala Avenue Carousel, Nuvali, Vertis North, Vermosa, and Circuit Makati; Ayala Malls: Greenbelt, Glorietta, Alabang Town Center, and Trinoma; Seda BGC, and the Laguna Technohub.

The firm also said that there will 22-kilowatt AC and 60-kilowatt DC fast chargers across the stations that will soon allow users to fully charge their vehicles within two hours.

Currently, ALI said, the use of these EV chargers is free.

"I am delighted that Ayala Land is one with us on our advocacy in promoting the use of EV vehicles in the country," said Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines’ President Edmund Araga.

“Your new facility will pave the way for compliance with the Department of Energy under the direction of RA 11697 or better known as EVIDA Law. We at EVAP are grateful that your cooperation will help us flourish in encouraging individuals to shift into electric and be one with us in helping our environment,” he added.

At the unveiling ceremony held at Ayala Tower 2 at the Ayala Triangle on Thursday, Director of the Department of Energy’s Energy Utilization Management Bureau Patrick Aquino discussed the comprehensive roadmap for the electric vehicle- industry or CREVI.

"The CREVI will outline the major points with respect to our annual targets in how we envision to transition to a fully electric vehicle society by 2040. It is with projects like this with the private sector that we see the greatest gains towards sustainability," he said. -- BAP, GMA News
