BIR to taxpayers: 'Pay as you file' 2024 ITR on or before April 15

BIR to taxpayers: 'Pay as you file' 2024 ITR on or before April 15

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on Friday called on taxpayers to pay taxes as they file their 2024 Income Tax Return (ITR) on or before April 15, 2025 to avoid penalties.

In a statement, BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. advised taxpayers to file their annual ITR electronically using the bureau's e-filing facilities—Electronic BIR Forms (eBIRForms) or Electronic Filing and Payment System (eFPS).

Lumagui said taxpayers without internet access may use the eLounge facility of the Revenue District Offices (RDOs), wherein they will be assisted in e-filing their 2024 annual ITR.

The BIR National Office will also establish an e-filing hub or Tax Assistance Center at the BIR National Training Center (NTC) Auditorium to cater all taxpayers.

This will be open from March 24 to April 15, 2025—excluding Sundays and holidays—from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"The BIR is committed to making tax filing and payment more convenient by ensuring that our e-filing Center and RDOs' eLounges are available to assist taxpayers every step of the way. We encourage the early filing of annual ITR, and the payment of the full Income Tax due on the same day of filing using the BIR's electronic services and available tax payment channels (i.e. Authorized Agent Banks, Revenue Collection Officers [RCOs], and various electronic platforms like MAYA, GCash and MYEG, etc.) for a smooth and hassle-free experience," said Lumagui.

To support the BIR during the tax filing season, authorized agent banks will open on two Saturdays next month—April 5 and April 12, 2025—and extend banking hours until 5 p.m. from April 1 to April 15, 2025 to accept tax payments.

"Our goal is to make tax compliance easier and hassle-free for our taxpayers. We will continue to enhance our services and exert more efforts to achieve that," Lumagui said. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
