PH reached P760-B in tourism revenues in 2024
The Philippines has generated more than P760 billion in tourism revenues in 2024, Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco said on Friday.
''Well, the good news is that Philippine tourism was able to garner an all-time high in visitor revenues from our international tourists at around… over 760 billion pesos,'' Frasco said in an interview in Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon.
''This represents over 9% increase from our 2023 visitor revenues and a 126% recovery from the 600 billion visitor receipts in 2019,'' she added.
Frasco said the figure has shown that economically, ''our recovery in Philippine tourism performance has already exceeded our pre-pandemic numbers.''
She said the Department of Tourism has been firm in its commitment to ensure the increase in the number of tourism arrivals in the country.
''But I think it is also important to highlight the challenges that the Philippines faced which then led to our numbers not reaching the targeted projections for 2024, iyong 7.7 million arrivals – ang dumating 5.9 million arrivals,'' Frasco said. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
