IT-BPO group confident of growth regardless who wins US presidential elections

IBPAP industry growth US presidential elections

The IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) is optimistic that the industry will sustain its growth regardless of who will win the US presidential elections between US Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.

IBPAP chief operating officer Celeste Ilagan said the group didn't receive any concern from its American members regarding the US presidential elections..

“We have not heard any of our American members talk about results of the election,” Ilagan told reporters on the sidelines of an event in Mandaluyong City on Monday.

“Through the years, they have always operated as well as they always have, and have expanded in the Philippines regardless of the administration and therefore, there are no concerns or immediate concerns that we have heard from them,” she added.

The United States is set to hold its election day on Tuesday, November 5. Over 78 million Americans have already voted ahead, nearly half of the 160 million votes cast in 2020 which was the highest voter turnout in over a century.

“We are confident that the growth of the IT-BPM industry will continue and we have some aggressive growth targets in terms of employment and service exports revenue,” Ilagan said.

The IBPAP expects revenues of $38 billion and a 1.82-million workforce this year, which the group said it expects to surpass. This compares with the 1.7-million workforce and $354.9-billion revenue target for 2023. —NB, GMA Integrated News
