Diesel and kerosene prices to be hiked anew Tuesday; no change for gasoline

Fuel retailers on Monday announced upward adjustments in the prices of select fuel products to mark the third straight week of hikes for diesel, and the second for kerosene, while gasoline prices will be unchanged.

In separate advisories, Seaoil Philippines Corp. and Shell Pilipinas Corp. said they will increase prices per liter of diesel by P1.20, and kerosene by P0.70. There will be no changes for gasoline.

The hikes will take effect at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, for both firms.

Other retailers have yet to make similar announcements for the week.

The Department of Energy-Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB) earlier projected a rollback for gasoline and an increase for both diesel and kerosene this week, citing a possible Israel attack on Iran’s oil infrastructure, and disruptions in the Southeast US due to Hurricane Helene.

Firms last week hiked prices per liter of gasoline by P0.45, diesel by P0.90, and kerosene by P0.30.

This brought year-to-date adjustments to a net increase of P6.40 per liter for gasoline and P2.85 per liter for diesel, and a net decrease of P6.05 per liter for kerosene as of October 1, 2024. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
