BOC intercepts packages containing P38.8 million worth of marijuana

The Bureau of Customs seized three boxes containing over P38.8 million worth of dried marijuana in packages.

According to the statement on Thursday, information on the packages led to the interception and examination of the three boxes on July 31 and August 1.

Initial X-ray results on August 2 showed that the boxes contained 99 heat-sealed packages of dried marijuana, worth P38,808,000.

“The shipment was declared to contain plastic tableware, kitchenware, blankets, and shoes,” the statement read.

The parcels have been secured and will be further tested by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

“The BOC remains committed to preventing drugs from entering our country and will continue to intensify our efforts to protect our borders and citizens,” the statement continued. — Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/BM, GMA Integrated News
