DTI: 43 stores violated price freeze; 370 products not following SRP

Forty-three stores were found to have violated the price freeze in effect in areas under state of calamity due to last month's floods and inclement weather, Bernadette Reyes reported on Unang Balita on Wednesday.

Citing the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the report also said 370 products did not follow the suggested prices.

The DTI already issued a notice of violation to the retail outlets asking for their explanation.

Meanwhile, acting DTI Secretary Maria Cristina Roque recently inspected the Guadalupe market and one grocery store to ensure that the suggested prices are followed.

The National Capital Region (NCR) was among the areas under state of calamity due to the effects of Southwest Monsoon or Habagat and Super Typhoon Carina last month.

The price freeze will last until September 24 to help consumers with their budget and avoid improper price increases. —Jamil Santos/KBK, GMA Integrated News
