Marcos: Trabaho Para sa Bayan to create at least 3M jobs by 2028

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. said Friday that the Trabaho Para sa Bayan plan would help generate at least three million new jobs for Filipinos by 2028.

Marcos said this as he graced the 2024 National Employment Summit at the Manila Hotel. The TPB is a 10-year roadmap, which will serve as the national guide towards greater employment generation and recovery.

“In line with our priorities, and the outcomes that we desire, and strategies stated in the Philippine Development Plan, the Philippine Labor and Employment Plan, the Strategic Investment Priority Plan, and the Workforce Development Plan, the TPB Plan will be one of the driving forces to help create at least three million new jobs by the year 2028,” ,Marcos said.

“Beyond generating employment, what we want to achieve is creating quality jobs, with special emphasis on ensuring workers’ welfare, empowerment, competitiveness, and security in all sectors of our labor sector,'' he added.

Marcos said the employment summit is the perfect time for key players to come together to harness the spirit of Bayanihan as the country meets the emerging needs in the local, national, regional, and international labor markets.

“We have exciting times that lie ahead. We look forward to the new jobs, the new sectors, the new opportunities that are waiting for us and for the Philippines,” Marcos said.

Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said the government should aim for the creation of employment opportunities of better quality, those that are sustainable and more remunerative, and those that provide decent working conditions for all workers.

"We must also deliberately aim for work opportunities that fully respect the fundamental principles and rights at work, and provide adequate and inclusive social protection including facilitating just transitions," Laguesma said.

The National Employment Summit will pave the way for the development and strengthening of identified strategic industries to generate more jobs, promote employment, and expand employment access. — RSJ GMA Integrated News
