President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Wednesday called on fintech companies and startups to explore partnerships in the Philippines to develop the country’s digital transformation.

In his message delivered through a hologram video recording at the Singapore Financial Technology Festival 2023, Marcos underscored the Philippines’ commitment to digital transformation.

“In the Philippines, we remain committed to fostering an environment that promotes collaboration and propels the momentum of our digital transformation,” Marcos said.

Marcos mentioned the GoDigital Pilipinas, a movement facilitated by the Private Sector Advisory Council, which seeks to promote universal access to digital services as one of the many promising endeavors that the Philippines has initiated.

Marcos added that a number of public-private partnership projects are also aimed at keeping pace with the rapidly evolving ICT landscape.

“The Philippines is likewise cementing its position as a hub for digital innovation and entrepreneurship, with a dynamic startup scene that holds immense promise,” Marcos said.

“We invite you to look at these startups and explore potential partnerships to ensure our mutual growth and shared prosperity,'' he added.

Marcos also recognized the growing presence of digital banking and emphasized the importance of digital cash flow so that Filipinos can build a digital profile.

“The Philippines also recognizes the growing presence of digital banking and the importance of inclusive finance in our financial landscape so that no one will be left behind in our pursuit of progress and prosperity,” the President said.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
