Marcos: Over 5000 jobs expected to be generated in new Unilever factory
More than 5,000 job opportunities could be generated in the new Unilever facility in Cavite province, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said on Friday.
Marcos graced the inauguration of Unilever’s new beauty and wellbeing and personal care factory in General Trias.
“It is also worth mentioning that this plant is one of Unilever’s largest personal care facilities in the world and is expected to generate over 5,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities for our countrymen,” Marcos said in his speech.
According to Marcos, the new facility is a welcome development for all the shared efforts “to strengthen our manufacturing sector and, to ultimately, create jobs and gainful opportunities for our people.”
“This manufacturing plant is projected to produce nearly 90,000 tons of various personal care products annually and this is to meet the growing domestic and export demand for Unilever products,” he said.
The President said the new facility was among the pledges that had been secured during his trip to Belgium for the ASEAN-EU Summit last December 2022.
“To see this project come to fruition after just several months is not only encouraging, it also inspires me and the rest of the government to work even harder for the Filipino people,” Marcos said. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
