Marcos urges gov't agencies to ensure efficiency of EO 32
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Monday called on concerned government agencies to ensure the proper implementation of Executive Order No. 32.
The EO aims to streamline the process of securing permits for the construction of telecommunications and internet infrastructure.
Marcos thus said as he attended the launching of the Electronic Local Government Unit (eLGU) System and the People’s Feedback Mechanism (eReport) at the President’s Hall in Malacañang Palace.
"I thus urge all our government agencies, LGUs, to collaborate with the DICT (Department of Information and Communications Technology) as we integrate all services into the recently launched eGov PH Super App, to attain its objective of becoming a multi-sectoral application for all government institutions and transactions," Marcos said.
"I also call once again the DICT, the DILG (Department of the Interior and Local Government), and our LGUs to ensure the efficient implementation of the EO No. 32 to ramp up the implementation of infrastructure projects in the telecommunications industry, so we can accelerate the country’s transformation," he added.
Under EO No. 32, all government agencies and local government units will be covered by a set of guidelines for the issuance of permits, licenses, clearances, certifications, and authorizations for building telecommunications and internet infrastructure.
This will include the construction, installation, repair, operation, and maintenance of shared passive telecommunications tower infrastructure; and, erection of poles, installation of aerial and underground cables and facilities, underground fiber ducts, ground terminals, and other transmission telecommunications and Internet infrastructure and facilities.
Meanwhile, both the eLGU and eReport will serve as vital components of the DICT’s eGov PH Super App, which is a mobile application that integrates multi-sectoral government services in a single platform.
The eLGU covers a wide range of local government services such as business permit licensing, a notice of violations, a notification system, community tax, health certificates, local civil registry, business tax, and real property tax.
The eReport is interoperable and linked with the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) iReport, which is a Crime Response Management System, and the Bureau of Fire Protection’s (BFP) Fire Response Management System.
Marcos said that these applications would help curb criminality and lawlessness.
"We now live in a world where technology is occupying a vital and important part of our existence. Let us embrace it and see the good that it can do for our society," Marcos said. —NB, GMA Integrated News
