BSP to release P150 commemorative coin in honor of Gomburza
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) will release a commemorative coin featuring Filipino priests Mariano Gomez, Jose Burgos, and Jacinto Zamora, collectively known as Gomburza.
In a Facebook post on Friday, the BSP said the P150 non-circulation commemorative coin will be available for sale starting January 16, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the BSP Store: https://bspstore.bsp.gov.ph
The commemorative coin will be sold for P2,200.
The legal tender coin will be released in honor of the 150 years of martyrdom of Gomburza.

The BSP said the commemorative coin features the portraits of Gomburza on the obverse with the markings "REPUBLIKA NG PILIPINAS" and the denomination "150-Piso."
The reverse side features the markings "EXECUTION OF THE THREE MARTYR PRIESTS," the BSP logo, the dedication of Dr. Jose Rizal in El Filibusterismo, the silhouette of the Andres Bonifacio Monument in Caloocan City, and the official logo of Gomburza’s 150 years of martyrdom.
The coin is made of Nordic gold with a diameter of 34 millimeters and a weight of 15 grams, the BSP said.
In 1872, the priests were among those sentenced to death by strangulation for allegedly instigating the Cavite Mutiny, where over 200 people revolted against the Spaniards for voiding their exemption from paying taxes. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
