Customs surpasses 2022 collection target as of November
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) said Tuesday it has already exceeded its full-year collection target for 2022 as of early November this year, marking the agency’s highest revenue performance to date.
In a statement, the BOC said it collected P745.50 billion as of November 11, surpassing its collection target of P721.52 billion for the entire year by P23.98 billion or 3.27%.
“This year's revenue collection performance historically marks the highest revenue collection of the agency to date,” the Customs said.
Citing a preliminary report from its collection districts, the BOC said all of its 17 collection districts reached their respective collection targets, “garnering a surplus of 16.8% or P103.29 billion as of October 31.”
The agency said Customs Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz led the BOC in achieving the remarkable feat through the stringent implementation of his priority programs to curb smuggling and corruption, optimize revenue collection, and digitalize and enhance customs operations anchored on the eight-point Socioeconomic Agenda of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
“As ordered by President Marcos Jr., Commissioner Ruiz has streamlined customs processes to ease bottlenecks and promote local and international investments and efficient trade facilitation while preventing revenue leakages through heightened border security measures,” the BOC said.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
