Agri damage due to Paeng now at P6.1 billion — NDRRMC
The damage in agriculture due to Severe Tropical Storm Paeng has climbed to P6.1 billion, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Thursday.
Based on the agency’s 8 a.m. situational report, the total production loss in Regions 1, 2, 3, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, 5, 6, 9, 10, BARMM, and CAR have reached to P6,190,088,661.
At least 144,682 farmers and fisherfolk were affected, while a total of 134,651.205 hectares of crop area were damaged.
The estimated cost of damage to infrastructure also increased to P5,055,450,437.88 in Regions 1, 2, 3, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, BARMM, and CAR.
The NDRMMC said a total of 53,096 damaged houses were reported, of which 47,988 partially damaged and 5,108 totally damaged amounting to P17,286,000.
The agency said the reported dead toll stood at 159, of which 127 were confirmed dead while 32 were still up for validation.
At least 146 individuals were injured and 30 others were missing, according to the NDRRMC.
Meanwhile, a total of 1,347,387 families or 5,404,573 persons were affected.
Of which, 10,233 families or 45,805 persons were catered inside 203 evacuation centers and 215,619 families or 1,071,204 persons were outside evacuation centers.
The NDRRMC said a total of P276,333,004.43 assistance were provided in the affected regions.
