Jokowi wants more opportunities for Indonesian firms in Philippines
BOGOR, Indonesia—Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Monday pushed for more opportunities for his country's state-owned enterprises and its private to back development initiatives in the Philippines.
For instance, Jokowi said he was hoping that an aircraft deal with PT Dirgantara would push through.
"I hope that the planned purchase of NC212i aircraft from PT Dirgantara can be realized," Jokowi said.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is in Indonesia for a state visit.
PT Dirgantara Indonesia (Indonesian-aircraft Industries) produces various types of aircraft to fulfill the needs of civil airlines, military operators and specific missions.
Jokowi said a number of Indonesian state-owned enterprises have participated in development programs in the Philippines in order to heighten cooperation in the infrastructure and strategic industries of the two countries.
"For instance, the procurement project of two-landing platform dock vessels by PT PAL and railway signaling project in Manila by PT LEN," Jokowi said.
"Going forward, I hope that more opportunities arise for Indonesian SOEs and private sector to support development in the Philippines," he added. —NB, GMA News
