Marcos tackles job generation with private sector council

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Wednesday met with members of the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) to discuss plans on generating more jobs in the country.

A press release from PSAC said the Council, led by its convenor and Aboitiz Group president Sabin Aboitiz, had recommended five measures to the President to create more employment for Filipinos.

These include the following:

  • Scale up MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises);
  • Identify labor-intensive, high-potential industry segments;
  • Attract more investors by making it easier to do business;
  • Make labor regulation more flexible; and
  • Build skills for short-term productivity and long-term competitiveness

The meeting was attended by Aboitiz, along with the Council’s Jobs sector lead RFM CEO Joey Concepcion and members JG Summit President & CEO Lance Gokongwei, SM Investments Vice Chairperson Tessie Sy Coson, Magsaysay Group President & CEO Doris Magsaysay Ho, Alliance Global Group CEO Kevin Tan, and Ayala Corporation Independent Director Rizalina Mantaring.

The Council said Labor Secretary Bienvenido “Benny” Laguesma was also present in the meeting and provided his full support for the top priorities recommended by PSAC.

Marcos and the Council will meet again in the coming weeks "to lay out a roadmap that will help the Build, Build, Build and Tourism sectoral groups secure quick and substantial wins in the first 100 days of the administration," the Council said. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
